The Neighborhood
Beaches
The beaches of the east end tend to look fairly similar. If you're driving you will generally need a permit to park. These can be purchased at Long Beach in North Haven. If you are looking for a younger scene check out Flying Point Beach in Water Mill, or the more glamorous Gibson Beach in Sagaponack. Families should head to Sagg Main Beach in Southampton, where lifeguards, toilets, food and beach passes are also available.
Village
The former whaling village of Sag Harbor is home to a magnificent collection of historic architecture and offers many fine shops and restaurants on it's charming Main Street. The village is home to the Bay Street Theatre, the legendary American Hotel, the Sag Harbor Whaling Museum and the first Customs House in the United States. The large marina harbors a variety of yachts and sailboats serviced by the Sag Harbor Yacht Club and the Breakwater Yacht Club and hosts weekly sailboat races in season.
